Insurance Coverage Counseling and Litigation Associate

Nicolaides Fink Thorpe Michaelides Sullivan LLP is seeking a Senior Insurance Coverage Counseling and Litigation Associate to join our growing Chicago office and become an integral part of the firm's legal team.

This is an exceptional opportunity to handle challenging and complex issues and disputes (litigated and non-litigated) involving a wide array of industries, subject matters, and legal principles while also developing expertise in a constantly evolving practice area. Our firm promotes a highly collaborative work environment, where attorneys work alongside partners in each of the firm’s six offices, have regular client contact, and are encouraged to develop client relationships.

Ideal candidates are driven professionals with strong analytical, writing, and communication skills, and the ability to think strategically to solve novel insurance issues. Civil litigation and insurance coverage experience are required.

Compensation for this role ranges from $190,000-$220-000, with final compensation commensurate with experience. Annual performance-based raises and discretionary bonuses are available as part of this position. The firm provides competitive benefits plans, including medical, dental, vision, life, short-term and long-term disability. Employees are also eligible to enroll in the 401(K) Profit Sharing Plan, which includes employer contributions.

Education/Experience/Certifications Required:

• JD from an ABA-accredited law school
• 6-8 years of legal experience
• 4-5 years of insurance coverage experience at a firm handling coverage counseling and litigation, with a preference for experience with Bermuda form and excess casualty
• Litigation experience, including handling depositions, court appearances, motion practice, and client reporting
• Demonstrated ability to oversee associates, paralegals, and support staff
• Strong interest in growing existing firm clients
• Strong academic record
• This position requires admission to practice law in a U.S. state
• The position is intended to be located in Chicago though applicants in Dallas, Denver, or the firm’s California markets (San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego) are also encouraged to inquire.
